I don't have any pics, but Lucia has been diaper-free (except during sleep) for a whole week without any accidents!! Actually, she's been wanting to wear her big girl panties to sleep, so we've been putting her diaper over them, but she's kept dry during nap and night time also! Now, it's time to get her a big girl bed. Don't even ask where she's been sleeping!
Lucia kept saying, "Papi smells my poochie and then we go to the museum" over and over again today.
So this is old news, but better late than never, right? Lucia started preschool on July 6th, Tues. and Thurs. 8:45 to 12:30. It started off pretty rough. She was crying and clinging to us. Miss Saira and Miss Margarita told us that she would cry every time they switched activities (and therefore locations). Once she figured out what school was, she'd ask in the morning (when we're rushing around), "where are we going?" At first, we didn't want to tell her because she'd resist getting in the car. So, Carlos would tell her "somewhere fun" or "to see your favorite friends". She figured out quickly that we were lying because she wouldn't see Charlie, or Christian, or Eloise, the friends she sees most. I thought it was better to be honest with her (always the best option, right?) and tell her. She would whine about it, but she would go almost willingly, cooperating with the carseat and getting out of the car once we arrived. In August, it switched to just "daycare" since no there was no official schedule going on. We switched her to Tues.,Wed., Thurs. 10-3. That meant she'd have lunch and nap there! It wasn't so easy as that. She stopped eating her lunch and wouldn't even lay down during nap time. On the first day she stayed through nap, she picked all the scabs off her face (she fell on her face that weekend). About the third week into it, she started taking a nap and eating lunch! This was a huge breakthrough!! She finally felt comfortable. For the first time last week, she asked to go to school several times. We couldnt believe it, and thought it was a fluke, but she kept bringing it up! The school was closed, or we would have happily obliged. Yesterday was a school day. I asked her in the morning if she wanted to go and she said "yes!"
The morning after Easter, I found this on the floor in Lucia's playroom. The night before, she was running around diaper-free for a little bit, and I guess she did her business over there. I am so shocked she didn't say "uh oh!" or "I make a poochie." Oh well, as Jenny pointed out, at least she felt comfortable making a poop while not in her diaper. I'm also not sure how we sat on the sofa all night watching the tube and didn't notice the stench. By the way, I took some more close-up pics, but I thought it's probably better at a slight distance.
